The first edition of the Tipsport Open Cup #1 is behind us, and we’re heading home from Prague with a fantastic 2nd place finish!
We entered the tournament as one of nine participants, and over the course of a few days, we gradually fought our way all the way to the Grand Final. The entire tournament was played in a BO3 format, and for our team, it was also an important opportunity to gain more experience and valuable VRS points.
THE ROAD TO THE FINALS
In the playoffs, we first faced Nexus, whom we defeated in the series to secure our spot in the next round. In the following match, we faced Nexus again, this time in the Consolidation Final.
Although we didn’t start the series as we’d hoped and lost 6–13 on Ancient, we managed to put up a fight on Mirage. However, even a win on the second map wasn’t enough to turn the series around, and Nexus claimed a 2–1 victory.
Thanks to our previous results, though, we still had a chance to compete for the title itself.
GRAND FINAL
Jam awaited us in the final. On the opening map, Ancient, we were trailing 4–8 after the first half, but the second half brought us a crucial comeback, and we ultimately managed to turn the map around to a 13–11 victory.
On Dust2, on the other hand, we had to play catch-up. After the first half, the score was tied at 6–6, and in a nail-biting finish, Jam secured a 13–11 victory. The fate of the entire tournament would thus be decided on the third map.
Unfortunately, the decisive match on Anubis went in our opponent’s favor, so we’ll have to settle for silver medals.
? SECOND PLACE AND +91 VRS
Although we didn’t win the title this time, 2nd place in the Tipsport Open Cup #1 is a very valuable result for us. In addition to the cash prize, we’re also taking home important VRS points and, above all, more experience from a LAN environment.
Moreover, thanks to this result, we’ve moved up 91 spots in the VRS rankings.
