At the FOX Legacy Season 1 LAN tournament in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, we managed to make it through the entire playoff bracket, and after a fantastic performance in the finals, we were crowned champions of the tournament.
The tournament took place from October 1 to 4, 2026, and featured matches between sixteen teams. The tournament began with a group stage in a BO1 format, followed by a double-elimination BO3 playoff. The total prize pool was $13,602, with the winner taking home $6,801.
The Road to the Playoffs
UNiTY entered the tournament as one of the seeded teams, and it was clear from the start that we were in for some seriously tough competition. Teams such as SAW, INFINITE, Wildcard, Lazer Cats, aimclub, NAVI Junior, and NT were all in the mix in Portugal.
In the playoffs, we then proved that we hadn’t come to Portugal just to gain experience.
Quarterfinals: UNiTY 2–0 aimclub
Our first opponent in the playoffs was the Romanian team aimclub.
UNiTY dominated the series convincingly, and it was all over after just two maps. We won 13–5 on Dust2 and followed that up with another victory, 13–4, on Cache. The series thus ended 2–0, and UNiTY advanced to the semifinals.
KWERTZZ played a major role in the victory; with a rating of 1.62, he was the best player of the series. He was complemented by Dytor, who had a rating of 1.50.
Semifinals Against INFINITE
In the second round of the playoffs, we faced the European team INFINITE, which was among the top-seeded teams in the tournament.
The series was scheduled as a best-of-three (BO3), with the winner advancing to the upper bracket final. UNiTY thus faced another crucial step on their journey toward the coveted title.
And just like in the quarterfinals, we showed that on the LAN stage, we’re ready to take on any opponent.
Upper Bracket Final: Another Step Toward the Title
After successfully navigating the semifinals, we advanced to the Upper Bracket Final, where the Ukrainian team NT awaited us. By advancing through the upper bracket, we had a chance to reach the grand final directly and, at the same time, secure an advantageous position ahead of the decisive stage of the tournament.
And it was here that the final chapter of our journey toward the trophy began.
Upper Bracket Final against NT
The Upper Bracket Final pitted UNiTY against NT.
And UNiTY came out on top.
After three maps, we managed to defeat our opponent 2–1. The series featured matches on the maps Cache, Ancient, and Mirage:
Cache – 13:11 for UNiTY
Ancient – 9:13 for NT
Mirage – 13:5 for UNiTY
After losing the second map, we were able to refocus and deliver a dominant performance on the decisive map, Mirage.
Grand Final: UNiTY 2–0 NT
In the FOX Legacy Season 1 Grand Final, we faced the Ukrainian team NT. After a successful run through the upper bracket, we had one last step to take to claim the trophy—and we nailed it.
MIRAGE — 13:9
The first map was a closely contested battle. We led 7–5 after the first half and managed to extend our lead even further in the second half. We ultimately closed out Mirage with a score of 13:9. 2high was a standout performer, finishing the map with a rating of 1.60 and 21 kills. HLTV.org
ANCIENT — 13:11
We had to fight hard for the win on Ancient. NT took a 7–5 lead after the first half, but UNiTY put on a great performance on the second half. Winning eight rounds allowed us to turn the map around and secure a 13–11 victory.
A Historic Moment for UNiTY
Winning the FOX Legacy Season 1 title is a huge success for UNiTY. Our roster—consisting of Simon “KWERTZZ” Horák, Ahmet “2high” Baftijari, Jakub “M1key” Krausko, Timmy “Sn0w” Brun, and Martin “Dytor” Handl managed to reach the very top among sixteen competing teams.
What’s more, we demonstrated tremendous mental resilience throughout the entire playoffs. Every match was different, every opponent brought a different style of play, but UNiTY managed to find a way to victory.
For taking first place, we’re also taking home $6,801 from the total prize pool of $13,602.
